Much has been spoken about the universal law of attraction. A friend loaned me her DVD of The Secret. I must admit that it was a wonderful reminder of the power that we hold within ourselves. The message being, of course, that we create our world by our thoughts and actions. We attract to us those things that are in line with our own thoughts. If you aren't receiving what you ask for, you must look within yourself. It's interesting how we are so willing to take credit for the abundance we create in our lives, yet, we are quick to place blame when things don't go right.

As a hypnotherapist (Parker, Colorado) I spend much of my time working with clients on how to attract what they want. This may be in the form of desired changes in their behavior...attracting different attributes that will help them to be a more balanced person...or simply learning to quiet the noise in their lives.

The really cool thing about my chosen field, is that we get to "future pace" our clients. They are able to experience, or "try it on for size", their new attraction to see how it fits. There can be any number of changes that they hadn't realized. Maybe by achieving this goal it means that they need to outgrow a current, limiting, relationship. Perhaps it means saying goodbye to old habits.

By taking a peak it allows them to be very careful when setting desired goals. Of course, the future pacing is no guarantee that this is how it will happen. It is based on the client's emotions, physical wellness, state of mind, etc. These will all be different tomorrow, and the next day, which would also change how they perceive the future. What is important is that they are forced to ask the tough questions of themselves.

I believe that the universe is impartial and will grow whatever seed is planted. It is very important to be very deliberate in the planting of our dreams. We need to water and feed our plantings and protect them as if our lives depend on it. What are you planting in your universal garden??
